Patterns and Models

In 2013 Diversified Mold & Casting purchased its first CNC router for the purpose of cutting models and patterns for our customers. Most molds require some form of pattern to start the process of manufacturing a rotational mold. With our ability to make patterns in-house we no longer have to modify lead times to fit an outside source for this application. Our multiple programmers and finishers enable us to expedite the process and get the patterns in the hands of the expert tool makers.

In some cases a customer will only want a model or as some call it a "site model," to check fit and assembly, especially if they are going to go with a CNC machined mold. This is a less expensive alternative to be able to determine interferences in assembly and to allow you to modify the engineered data rather than make revisions in the mold.

We use a number of different materials from Wood to High-Density Foam, but in the end, the final pattern will reflect a scaled up version of your desired finished part. What you start with will ultimately determine what you end up with, at DMC the high emphasis we put on a quality pattern ensures us a great start.
